Before He was given up to death, a death He freely accepted, He took bread and gave You thanks. He broke the bread, gave it to His disciples, and said: TAKE AND EAT, ALL OF YOU, THIS IS MY BODY WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU. When supper was ended, He took the cup. Again He gave you thanks and praise, gave the cup to His disciples, and said: TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT: THIS IS THE CUP OF MY BLOOD, THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND EVERLASTING COVENANT. IT WILL BE SHED FOR YOU AND FOR ALL SO THAT SINS MAY BE FORGIVEN. DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME. - words of consecration
"Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world." -John 1:29
"Our ancestors ate manna in the desert, as it is written: 'He gave them bread from heaven to eat.'" So Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave the bread from heaven; My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the Bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world." So they said to him, "Sir, give us this bread always." Jesus said to them, "I am the Bread of Life; whoever comes to Me will never hunger, and whoever believes in Me will never thirst. But I told you that although you have seen, you do not believe. Everything that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and I will not reject anyone who comes to Me... I am the Bread of Life... the Living Bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is My Flesh for the life of the world... For My Flesh is true food, and My Blood is true drink. Whoever eats My Flesh and drinks My Blood remains in Me and I in him. Just as the living Father sent Me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on Me will have life because of Me. This is the bread that came down from heaven.' -John 6:31-58
The chalice of benediction, which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? And the bread, which we break, is it not the partaking of the body of the Lord? For we, being many, are one bread, one body, all that partake of one bread. -1 Corinthians 10:15

'It is there in His Eucharist that He says to me: "I thirst, thirst for your love, your sacrifices, your sufferings. I thirst for your happiness, for it was to save you that I came into the world, that I suffered and died on the Cross, and in order to console and strengthen you I left you the Eucharist. So you have there all My life, all My tenderness."' - Mother Mary of Jesus, foundress of the Sisters of Marie Reparatrice
